Having a child, soon to be two, I realize that they are truly my legacies. Khalil and Scarlett will live on when I am long gone.
After giving birth to Scarlett, I have been trying to preserve every moment of our young family's life. I never want to forget what I thought and felt in these moments, and when Scarlett is older, I want her to know exactly what I was thinking, and who her Mama really is. So, I have been writing her what I call Scarlett Letters.
Here is one of the entries I would like to share:
Hi beautiful Scarlett. I'm lying in bed eating cookies and drinking Mt. Dew, so unhealthy, I know, and you are peacfully sleeping away in your bassinet. You've actually been sleeping since about 6am. I can't believe it! I'm watching TV, eating junk food, and just watching you sleep. I love these quiet moments.
We've had a busy few days, and we have more busy days to come. You and I spent the night at Grandma and Grandpa's on Sunday night. It was the first time you weren't sleeping at our home, and you did great. You woke up once at 2:30am, and I fed you, and then you woke up again at 4:30am, and your Grandma Su fed you. Your Grandpa Paul walked you everytime you would get fussy. You are a spoiled girl , and it's just because we all love you so much.
Everyday with you is the greatest gift in the world. Everyday you are becoming more and more alert. I often look at you and wonder what you will look like when you're olde.r What your voice will sound like? What will your personality be?
Today it's supposed to be about 95 degrees and stormy. If you wake up soon, I'm thinking we should go on a nice walk before it becomes too hot.

You are right, Scarlett is your legacy, just as Khalil will be. It's amazing the mark that children leave on this world and I am so happy that you are capturing all of the wonder for them.
You've weathered many storms to bring these beautiful babes into your arms. Thank you once again for allowing us to be part of "their" beautiful story. When they are older, our ages perhaps, they will read these entries and know just how very much they are loved.

I love that! I have a "Zachary journal" that I write to Z every week. Mostly it's just how much I love him and milestones, but hopefully someday he'll treasure it!
I love this. I have a journal that I started when we found out I was pregnant with Munchie. I've written in it fairly regularly for nearly 6 years now. It's fun to re-read the entries, and I think it will fun for Munchie to read it one day too.

I wrote my daughter a letter 2 days before she was born and sealed it up. I wanted to write her a letter every year of her life, but time got away from me, and I didn't do one for her 1st birthday. :( I also wish I hadn't sealed up the first one so I could read it. lol

I love this! I've heard of parents writing letters to their kids every birthday and sealing them...giving them over to them on their 16 or 18th birthdays. Very cool present for the kids to receive!
