It was a VERY interesting meeting. The problem with being on the wait list, is there isn't much to do towards the adoption. The necessary paperwork has been filled out and submitted, so really, all there is to do is wait. When I was filling out paperwork, adoption was on my mind 24/7. It felt real. But being on the waitlist has made the reality of it all go away a bit. But Tuesday's meeting brought it all back. This IS real. We will get our baby boy. We don't know when. But it WILL happen.
The agency talked about the referral. She said that when it comes, the agency will call every number they have on file for T and I, until they reach us. And when we are reached, we'll get an email with our baby's picture, medical information, stats on the baby, and things of that nature. I get goosebumps just thinking of it! She said that then T and I will submit some photos to the agency, which will be sent to the orphanage. These pictures will be shown to our baby daily, and his caretaker will talk about T and I. I thought that was wonderful.
And then the travel portion. Our agency has a guesthouse available for people to stay at. It will definitely be the most convenient option, but it definitely wasn't the cheapest. But, there is a driver who will drive us to the orphanage daily, as well as our Visa appointment at the US Embassy, so I think it will be too convenient to pass up.
It was a great call, and it helped me to realize that this will all happen, and I need to be patient in the meantime. T and I have plenty to do to prepare, and that will surely keep us busy. We've been on the wait list over 2 months now, and our agency said the average wait time is still 4-6 months. Everyday, we get a little bit closer.
And because I haven't posted pictures in a bit, I thought I would post pictures of what I'm dreaming about today, and that is warmer days. January in MN is miserable, especially for people like me who despise the snow and cold. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

sounds like a good phone call!!! i, too, am longing for warmer days! i asked matt the other day: can it be spring now?
I am so excited for the two of you! My husband and I also have future plans for adoption, so being able to be here during the journey for you have been amazing.
Leah, I think it is sooo cool that your little guy will be shown pictures of you and Taher and get to hear all about his mom and dad beforehand. Reading that gave me the little tingle in my nose that is a warning to pull myself together before I tear up, hehehe :) Awwww, I am just so excited for you!
I also remember having that phone call with our agency to talk about the referral and the steps after we receive our referral. It DID make everything seem more real. I LOVE the photo. I just stared at the crisp water and blue skies. Can't wait for warmer days!!
That's great that you had that call! It gives you some more to think about and, like you said, it was a real reminder that a little guy is coming your way sometime relatively soon!
Nothing like a great agency phone call to get you excited all over again! Sounds like you're getting close to a referral too.
I follow a blog written by a couple who adopted their son from ET and had a bio son around the same time. I thought you'd like to read about their experiences (older posts)...their bio son is about 3 or 4 months apart in age from their adpt son.

Oh my gosh, that made my heart skip a beat. I love that it isn't "if" its "when." I am so excited for you guys. Just even thinking about the day you get the call and the email makes me want to do a dance. It is going to be incredible when we get to read the blog post about it!
The waiting must be the hardest part! You are doing it so gracefully, though! Praying for you to get off that wait list!
have you read this

thought it was so heart-wrenching - and thought provoking . . .
Ohhh, the day you get that phone call will be SO amazing! I am excited just thinking about it :)
What an exciting phone call! It may seem far away to you right now, but to read that you could get your referral in another 2-4 months...wow! Hang in there!
how wonderful!!! this is so great!!! I am so happy for you guys! Even though our pursuits are domestic adoption, I love hearing about your int'l dreams.
OH! I remember that waiting time! And oh Joy when we finally saw his face! May it be a wait of perfect timing.
Thanks for the comment on my blog. Yes, people thought we were crazy, and going from two to four was difficult, but we would not have traded it for anything. And they are SUCH good friends now. Peace be with you!
I despise the cold and snow too and cannot imagine living in MN. Missouri is bad enough!
It sounds like the phone call was helpful. The waiting is always the hardest!
I know the wait part is hard but take this time as a couple to do things like date nights. You won't have too many more of these opportunities!
My hubs is from Duluth and always says that Jan and Feb are brutal there. We have friends that just brought their little girl home from China this summer. What an amazing experience!
