A lot of people have asked us what's next? What happens after court? So, here is how it goes to the best of my knowledge.
T leaves very soon for our August 5th court date. When T is in Ethiopia, he'll get to visit Nur for a couple hours at the orphanage every day. He can't wait for that! :) Assuming we pass court on August 5th, Nur will officially be our son. So. . . why can't we just bring him home then? Well, that would be a lot easier, but there is a lot of paperwork that then needs to be filled out at the US Embassy in Addis Ababa that will allow us to bring Nur into this country.
.
So, once we pass court, all the court paperwork will go to the US Embassy. The estimate is that once we pass court, we'll get a court date within 6-8 weeks. (Again. . . only an estimate) The Embassy appointment will allow us to bring Nur to his forever home. (And Nur. . . we apologize ahead of time for our nasty MN winters)
We are hoping to have Nur home sometime in the middle of September to the end of September. This is just our best guess, and it could be a little before that, or a little after, but I think our estimate is pretty accurate.
So, potentially, we could be just two short months away from meeting our son. Crazy, right?
Everyday I talk to TT about him. I'm not sure if her 2 week old brain understands a thing I'm saying, but I'd like to think she is happy to meet this older brother of hers. :)

Oh wow, I didn't realize your second court date would be 6-8 weeks from your initial court date! I can't imagine how hard that will be for T to see him and then have to leave him there.
Hopefully September will come quickly!
I can't wait to hear all about T's trip!!! Yay!! Another child gets a forever home! :)
I have friends who adopted twice form Ethiopia. They did not travel for the first court date, only the second to bring their son's home. Do you have the option to only travel once? I'm sure that your are both anxious to meet your son, but wondered why you are traveling twice (and will you go the second time?)
Two months just seems so far away to me still. Why can't it be sooner?! I know, I know, courts and paperwork.... I just wish he was coming home sooner. Oh well, it gives you more time to bond with Scarlett. Give her sweet head a kiss for me.
Yay, that's amazing! September is going to be a great month, you get to bring K home, and hopefully our adoption will be finalized...good indeed!
I think it's so sweet you tell S about K! I always tell Z about his cousin who's in heaven...I think babies know so much that they just can't tell us!!
Will T be able to Take pictures of the 2 of them together? I can't think of anything else that would help warm your heart and T's heart and get you both through your last 6-8 weeks. That could be one of the first pictures that went up in his nursery.
I was wondering how they were making this a 2 trip now instead of one, I didn't realize now you were at the court dates. Very exciting, see more time to relax and settle in.
