T and I leave in a couple of days, and we spent some time yesterday closing the loop on a few things. I talked to our MP yesterday (our social worker) and she will be mailing me a few copies of our completed homestudy. Now that our homestudy is complete, T and I can start applying to some grants. Most of the adoption grants we have found aren't for a huge sum of money, but every little bit helps, and I look forward to honing my grant writing skills.
The money aspect of adoption is always on my mind. Someone asked me a couple weeks ago, "Leah, are you sure you can afford to adopt?"
My first response wanted to be, "What an insensitive thing to say!"
But. . . the quick answer. . . No, I'm not sure I can afford it. I don't think most people have $25,000 sitting around in their checking account. And if you do, props to you. I certainly didn't have that kind of money sitting around. But I also know that I can't let that stop T and I from adopting a child. Money could always be used as an excuse as to not adopting, but I have this huge amount of trust that this is what T and I are supposed to do, and that somehow, it will all work out financially and otherwise.
I'm a huge fan of Little House on the Prairie. (Yes, I never claimed to be cool) I remember an episode where the Ingalls family was discussing money and not having enough of it. And they kept saying, "The Lord will provide."
That's how I feel. I'm trusting in something much bigger than myself. I know that when I hold my son for the first time, money will be the farthest thing from my mind.

I always feel the same way when things are tight or not going the way we hope. You just have to trust that what you need will come to you, and it always does. It will all work out.
wow! i've never had someone come right out and say that!!! you're right. He will provide!!! and hopefully He'll provide through a grant or two :-)

Lifesong for Orphans (matched donations from family and friends) and Katelyn's Fund were amazing blessings for us financially. We had family very worried about "how can you afford this". The answer is, we can't, but God CAN! He is the ultimate provider and I trust you will have the same story of provision. For us, it comes right when we need it. So, trust me, I have had my tears over...where (see Nov. 2008 posts if ya need a testimony to help build your faith) BUT God shows up right ON TIME! :-)

What a great example you are already setting for yourselves as parents- sacrificing for your child and trusting in the Lord's provision!
I also love the quote, "Where there's a will, there's a way." It won't always be easy, but you'll find a way to make it all work.

money is just money. yes, in our world we have to have it to get by, but at the end of the day, there are so many more important things than cash.
have you looked into your companies? some offer adoption reimbursements (usually up to $5000-10,000 per child, so not the full amount, but every little bit!)
also, some churches help fund adoptions. not sure if yours is one that does, but that could be something to look into also.
You are so right; you will receive what you need, whatever that is, to make this dream a reality, to complete your family. You are a good person and that is why it will come your way. I firmly believe that.
Our friends got a grant from lifesong. We helped them put together a fundraiser dinner. Someone grilled burgers/hotdogs, family brought trays of mac and cheese, green beans, and dessert. Hubby and I made an ethiopian dish. It was a huge success! In one afternoon they raised $10,000 plus got the matching $4,000 from lifesong. Everyone had a great time. It is a lot more personal than just sending out letters for donations. Add this to your list of ideas. You are right, the money will come somehow.
We always called our oldest daughter Half Pint, so I guess we're not cool either. And God will provide. Your trust is awesome and will be rewarded.
Have a wonderful trip. I hope you get to see the Cliffs of Moehr. I wanted to see it so bad and it was so foggy that all I can do is say "I was there".
