After work on Friday, I headed about an hour and a half south of where I live to visit a fellow blogger friend who was in town at the Mayo Clinic. When I told people I was going down to Rochester to meet a blog friend, people kept commenting that it would be "weird" meeting someone I've never met in person and only online. Well, it wasn't weird at all. I wasn't nervous because I felt like I already knew Michelle for ages. I knew we'd have no problem finding plenty of things to talk about.
Michelle and I have been following each other's blogs for ages, and when she found out T and I were doing a fundraiser for our adoption, she immediately volunteered to make us this beautiful vase to raffle off.
I remember at the time being so shocked by the kindness of "strangers." T and I were humbled beyond belief that people were willing to help us in our adoption efforts.
So, when I found out Michelle was going to be in my home state, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to meet her in person.
And let me tell you. . . she is exactly what I thought she would be! We met at her hotel, and then she, her husband, and beautiful daughter and I all went out for Italian. We talked, and talked, and talked, and could have talked for hours more. But with a 14 month old, that isn't always possible. :-) It was amazing, because I felt like we had always known each other, and I certainly didn't feel like this was our first meeting. I felt like we were just old friends catching up after time apart. And to make things even better, Michelle received good news at the doctor. :-D

Michelle - I SO enjoyed meeting you and your beautiful family. Thank you SO much for the baby gifts AND for dinner. Wow! Wasn't expecting any of that. I'm so happy to call you a friend. :-) Seriously. . . I feel like we are kindred spirits. :-D
Sometimes I get tired of blogging, and wonder why I continue to do it. Sometimes I get less than positive comments, and sometimes I feel over exposed. But then I meet people like Michelle, and it reminds me of why I blog. It's for the relationships I have made. We all have things in common, which is why we follow each other's blogs. Sometimes I wish this world was smaller so we could all live closer to each other, as I'd so love to meet all of you beautiful bloggers in real life.
So, if any of you are ever in the MN, let me know, as I'd love to meet you too! :-D

Funny - I was just reading your post when your comment on my post about meeting fellow bloggers came through! Sounds like we both had a grand time. I'm with you; it didn't at all seem weird or strange. It was just like catching up with an old friend. Yay for blogging friends!

I seriously loved meeting you too! Imagine how excited I was to meet you, and then how much more excited I was that you were the first person to hear all about out appointment! Friday was just awesome beyond words. I went to bed with a huge headache because I had been so happy and excited for so many hours that day. lol!
You are so right, I could have talked to you for HOURS! You are exactly what I expected you to be like too. I felt like we were old friends reconnecting. It was just as exciting as getting my news. I was bummed when you left.

How neat! I completely understand how meeting a blog friend would not seem weird. It's hard to explain the friendships that are formed through these blogs. If I ever make a trip to MN, I'm definitely giving you a call and you better do the same if you ever have the crazy idea of traveling to NC! :)

Some of my closest friends are people I've met online. Hubby and I meet up with some friends from Wisconsin several times a year - we've become that close.
I'm glad the two of you got to meet and hit it off so well.

So happy that you and Michelle met! I think its wonderful. I can truly say that my blogger friends have lifted me up on many a bad day and for them I keep walking :) Also, I'm thankful to my blogger friends for being so open and exchanging information. It's a beautiful community...yes, there may be some comments that are not welcomed, but I say take it with a grain of salt, as you KNOW who you are :) And, we are better for having met you!
