I know that things are taking longer because of the new laws in Ethiopia. Had we made that deadline to only travel once, we probably would have had a court date within a week or two. Honestly, that's how quickly people were getting court dates. But now with the new law in place, things are backed up, and everything is taking a lot longer. I'm not as anxious as I thought I would be. I guess it's because the timing of our lives up until this point have always worked out in the end, so I have no doubt the timing of Nur coming home will work out as well.
People are always asking us. . . Did you hear about a court date yet??? The answer remains no, and honestly, I don't expect to hear about one this week, or even next week. If I do, I guess I will just be pleasantly surprised.
But I know our family will not be complete until he is home, so I hope that is soon.
I leave you with an updated picture of our son. . . as much as I can legally show you until he is legally our son anyway. :)

Aaawww! Thinking of all 4 of you. Can't wait to see some pics of both kids in your arms! :)
I didn't realize that it was possible for my heart to totally melt over a faceless picture, but it totally just did. :) I can't believe it's been 6 weeks since Khalil's referral...my how that zoomed by. My biggest hope is that everything comes together perfectly for your family, however that might look. I'm holding on to faith that it will.
(P.S. Thanks for your really thoughtful comment today. It meant a lot.)
I can't imagine how hard it would be to know that your son is a world away waiting for you. I hope you get your court date soon. I read on another blog that Ethiopia is not requiring original birth certificates for the kids before they get a court date and obviously that could be an issue in some circumstances so it is taking a while to track them down. How do things work now that you have a referral? Is he still in the orphanage or has he moved to a transition-type housing where you know his care is more standard. We don't even have a referral yet (actually havn't even got our dossier in yet) but the thought of our son already living in an orphanage and going to bed hungry breaks my heart and I cry and pray for him every night. I'll add Khalil to my prayer too.
I totally know what you mean about a buzz kill. I am also not expecting much in terms of a court date. I don't really expect my phone to ring either. It sucks. Love the pic though!!!
Hang in there - I always hear that this part of the wait is 1000 times worse than any other part of the wait.
Saying a little prayer that the two of you and your son are united physically - you are already united emotionally - soon!
i'm hoping you ARE pleasantly surprised!!! i want khalil home too!
Oops, just reread my comment. Ethiopia is NOW requiring birth certificate. That probably makes more sense.
Oh my...that is some cuteness!!!! I'm sorry that things have slowed down in the process. It will be wonderful when he is in your arms at last!
That picture is absolutely precious! I can't wait to see that sweet little face, especially in your arms!
Aww!! Khalil will be home soon with momma, daddy and baby sister!!!
Your grace and patience are astounding! I'd be going crazy! And honestly, how precious is he! Those sweet little arms and legs! Oh! I can't wait for you to hold him in your arms and show us all!
You're so close to holding both your children. Praying all goes well with the timing and the birth and all that good stuff.
He's adorable! Those legs!!
so handsome! cant wait til you get your baby boy home!
I ♥ chubby littly Khalil! I thought of you the other day, I saw a little boy (about 10) in a restaurant with a cap on that said Khalil. I asked him what it was for (silly me, I don't keep up with kid-targeted logos and thought it might just be the latest thing, or thought maybe he was a fan of poetry!). He looked at me so strange and said "it's my name"! I told him I know someone who is about to have a little boy named Khalil. He thought that was so cool, so I redeemed myself somewhat.
He will be with you before you know it....then your days and nights are going to be SO busy! It will be fantastic!!!
Love to you both~
Lilly
The waiting has to be beyond difficult especially now that you know specifically who your little man is and that he is out there waiting for mommy and daddy. Hope you are pleasantly surprised and get the court date sooner than you think.
Awww!!! :) I can't wait til you have him home!!! :) You and T are going to be amazing parents to both your little ones!
Can't wait til he's yours and we can see a pic of his cute little face!! Hope they call soon!
Omg It's almost torcher to see a beautiful baby and not be able to hold him/her. heart wrenching to give you a picture like that of your son then make you wait for months and months. :( I understand the situation, but my goodness! my heart is with you and T through this time of wait.
I can't wait until he is in your arms!!!
I hope you hear real soon. I'm thinking of you guys!!
